Golden Rule by Confucius

Do not do to others what you would not like yourself. Then there will be no resentment against you, either in the family or in the state.

Analects 12:2 (Confucian)

One word which sums up the basis for all good conduct…loving kindness. Do not do unto others what you would not want done to yourself.

Analects of Confucius 15:23

Chinese saying: Riding a tiger

"He who learns to ride a tiger must also learn how to dismount it, lest he ends up in its stomach."

Chinese saying

This very much reflects the situation of a corrupt and oppressive government. Whoever is or are in power cannot afford to let go of power as letting go of power can mean those who then holds the power can uncover a lot of dirt (skeletons) and they can up in jail or even worst, hanged (get eaten up by the tiger). This often means such corrupt governments will resort to oppressive means to suppress uprising and hang on to power by whatever means.

However, let those oppressed be comforted. No empire, neither the Roman Empire nor the British Empire (on which the sun never sets?) lasted forever. One day, that must end. It is only a matter of time and how.

Let us keep track of political developments in Malaysia to see what develops over the next couple of years or decades.

Long Road to Freedom

I have walked that long road to freedom. I have tried not to falter; I have made missteps along the way. But I have discovered the secret that after climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb. I have taken a moment here to rest, to steal a view of the glorious vista that surrounds me, to look back on the distance I have come. But I can only rest for a moment, for with freedom comes responsibilities, and I dare not linger, for my long walk is not ended.

Nelson Mandela

Someone used Mandela wise saying as an introduction to an article to concerned Malaysians who are struggling to revive the status of the Malaysian Judiciary as a respected third pillar of democracy and an independent one for Malaysia. The Malaysia Bar Council organised a March for Justice which is supposed to be a 300m march from the Palace of Justice to the Prime Minister Department in Putrajaya to hand in 2 memoranda. They chartered 7 buses to take those who want to participate but don't want to drive there from Kuala Lumpur to Putrajaya. I was one of the passenger. That 300m March for Justice turned out to be a 5km +300m Long March for Justice. Wished I can add that as in introduction to that post as one can predict what will happen after the hard march, the drenching by the heavy downpour, and the hard work of the Bar Council in drafting out the two memorenda. It is going to be a long haul with many mountains to climb. Just have to hope that the concerned Malaysians and the Bar Council will have the stamina to see it to the end. And the police and the armed forces don't act like those in Burma.

It will be a long struggle,

Heaven and Hell: What is it like?

Pretty Deep.............Think About It!

A holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said,
Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like."

The Lord led the holy man to two doors. He opened one of the doors
and the holy man looked in. In the middle of the room was a large round
table.

In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew which smelled delicious
and made the holy man's mouth water.

The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They
appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles
that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into
the pot of stew and take a spoonful, but because the handle was longer than
their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths.

The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.

The Lord said, "You have seen Hell."

They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the
same as the first one. There was the large round table with the large pot
of stew which made the holy man's mouth water. The people were equipped
with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished
and plump, laughing and talking.

The holy man said, "I don't understand."

It is simple" said the Lord, "it requires but one skill. You see, they
have learned to feed each other, while the greedy think only of themselves."

Only 7% of the people who read this will share it with others. 93% of
people won't forward this!

HAVE A BLESSED DAY AND PASS IT ON!!!!!
